Caramel Frappuccino

My sister made this Homemade Caramel Frappuccino.  Doesn't it look so yummy?

So easy, and cheaper too. She made this using instant (maxwell house) vanilla caramel coffee (6tsp), mixed with about a cup of cold water, put in blender, add about 2 cups ice. Blend. Top with whip cream and caramel. Yummy.

Spring Picks

I think I may have a slight obsession with anything Mint colored. I want to paint my furniture and walls this color so of course I want Mint jeans.  I love the jeans paired with a cream lace top for only $17.80.  The accessories add the perfect touch.  I would probably add my favorite rose gold watch. Don't you love them?

City Creek

On Saturday Christy and I headed down to City Creek to see what all of the excitement was about.  She showed up at my house and our girls were both wearing mint jeans. Great minds think a like! The girls were really excited to take the train (trax) and to see the Disney store.

The mall was amazing! There were so many great stores that are new to Utah, our favorite Tiffany's (a girl can dream right?). The girls loved the new American Eagle kid's store, 77 kids.  They took pictures of themselves, made a music video, and got free candy!  Besides all the great stores there was live music, people making balloon animals, women dressed as statues, and delicious food.  We can't wait to go back when the crowds die down and do some real shopping! I hope your weekend was as lovely as ours.

Sugar cookies

My sister and I both work in the Newborn ICU, and this month our unit is having a bake sale to raise money for the March of Dimes.  Apparently last year they made about 3 grand from baked goods!  So we (and Hailey) made our delicious sugar cookies in all sorts of baby themed shapes.  They are so fun to make, but they do take a long time to frost. We split the icing into two different kinds. We leave some thick, and put in pastry bags to outline the cookie. The other half we thin down with water to cover the rest of the cookies. The best part about these cookies, they look cute and taste great!

Here is the recipe.  It helps if you do what Chelsie and I do and pretend they are zero calories!

Sweet Annie's Sugar Cookies
2 C. butter                       1 1/2 C. sugar
4 egg yolks                       2 tsp. vanilla
4 to 4 1/2 C of flour          1/2 tsp. salt

Mix dough and chill for half an hour. Roll the the dough out on a floured board and cut as desired. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes.

Royal Icing

3-4 egg whites ( I use meringue powder instead)
2 lbs. powdered sugar
1/4 tsp almond flavoring ( I add a lot more!)
1/2 tsp clear vanilla ( I also add more of this)
1/2 tsp butter flavoring ( I don't add this)

Beat the egg whites, add the sugar and thin with water.  You can now add the flavoring.  I leave some frosting thick to put in pastry bags ( I usually use a size 4 tip).  The other half of the frosting I thin down with water and put in squeeze bottles. Divide into bowls and add food coloring!

Enjoy

Happy Birthday to Me!!

I had such a good birthday. We started it out by going to Lake Havasu for the weekend. We had dinner that saturday night to celebrate :) On our drive home I told everyone NOT to say anything to Ryan about my birthday because I swear if I didin't tell him everything, he'd forget! I got home and he had all my presents wrapped waiting for me on the counter. And- even signed the card ;) I was so excited and totally surprised.
My birthday day- Ry got off work early got the kids up and ready and I slept in until 10:30. wahhhhht? I haven't done that since my middle school days. I woke up, got ready and went to lunch with my best. We ate at one of our favorites CPK, went shopping, then what we were really excited for- drove around and looked at houses. Haha :)
I went home relaxed then had dinner all ready for me again. It was such a great day!!

It's My Best Friend's Birthday

Today is Chelsie's Birthday! Happy Birthday Chels! I am so glad you are my best friend.  You are an amazing woman. In honor of your birthday I made a list of my top five favorite things about you.

 1. Your sense of humor.  You are the only person that I can tell an incredibly inappropriate sick story to and you truly appreciate it.

2. Your honesty.  You are never afraid to tell it how it is. Unless I ask you if I look fat, you always lie on that one!

3  Your math skills.  I can always count on you to tell me how much of a tip I should leave or how we should split the bill.

4.  Your loyalty.  Its so great to know that if someone ever says anything bad about me or any of your loved ones, you will stand up for them (I love your big mouth).

5.  Your friendship.  I am so grateful to have such a close friend to laugh, cry, and craft with.

Happy Birthday! I hope your day is great!  See you in a few hours to celebrate!

Feels like canvas pictures

I found this project through wood connection. I saw it and totally fell in love. I have always wanted canvas prints in my house- but they're so freaken expensive. When I came across these- I knew I could easily do them.
First- you can buy the wood frames right from wood connection {or if you have a handy husband he can make them for you! Which is great becasuse that really is the most expensive part} My favorite size of picture to do is a 12X12. They turn out so pretty!! Sidenote- Print them from costco, they're the cheapest and their quality is awesome. Also, make sure you choose matte or lustre, NOT glossy.
Second- Use a wood glue {not the yellow kind} where you'll be putting your picture, once you've finsihed painting it whatever color you want your block. {I've always done black. I feel like it just looks so good with every picture} Smooth the wood glue wiht a sponge brush. Place your print on the plaque. Then smooth out any bubbles, with a soft cloth.
Third- Let it dry for 5 minutes
Fourth- With a plastic soon, put a small amount of the Texture Crem for Photos. Quickly roll a textured rolling brush through the cream and evenly spread around the whole picture.

Last- Dry and display!! :)
I did this project and the first time I was successful!
That never happens ;)
This cream is the best!! And- the little jar will last for so long
I bought the roller, cream, and sponge brushes all from The Wood Connection
but- you can get them cheaper other places.

I painted just the edges of my wood block,
used wood glue to put the picture on the block,
and then just rolled the canvas cream on!

Here are the pictures that turned out so awesome!!
My mom did 9 12 X 12's in her office and they look so pretty
enjoy..

And here's the finished wall!
Thank you instagram- for spicing it up a bit
It's hard to tell they're 12 X 12's but they really look so good!

Glitter Eggs & Vintage Easter Grass

The little one and I had so much fun making these Easter eggs.  I originally found the idea for these eggs on Pinterest.  Click here to see them.  These eggs were so easy to make.  All you need is glue dots  (or any double sided adhesive) and glitter.  For the grass I used an old book and cut about 7 pages into tiny strips. I then folded the strips backwards and forwards to make this crinkled look.

Put the dots anywhere on the egg and sprinkle on the glitter!  Such a fun and simple way to decorate your eggs!

Click here to see how I made the stand.

Girls Night

Friday night Christy and I got together with some of our girlfriends for a much needed girls night. The Bff and I always love to do our hair and make up together before we go out, and let our little girls have their own mini girls night.
Everyone needs a good girls night- that's what good friends are for right? We had so much fun!! It was good to get out at the end of a crazy week. We met up with everyone at Red Robin {Christy's favorite place to eat} ate dinner, then went back to our friend Jordan's house. We all reminisced about the old days and talked about the future. I can't wait to do it again. Here are some pictures of our night!!

Decorate Your Phone

I was looking at one of my favorite blogs eighteen25 and came across these adorable wallpaper designs for your phone. Go look at all the designs here.  All you have to do is head over to eighteen25, save the picture to your computer and email it to yourself.  the best part is they are perfectly designed to fit your iphone!  No resizing or trying to get the whole picture to fit on your screen. I thought they were too cute not to spread the word.

Enjoy! Love-Christy

Pregnancy Project

After a long day of working, Christy and I needed some us time. We got some late night cafe rio and watched The Pregnancy Project. The movie was about a teenager who pretended to be pregnant to see what the stereotypes of teen pregnancies were like. Watch the trailer here. It took us back to the younger days when we went through all of that and the challenges we faced. Nothing like a good bonding sesh with your bff over rio.

Easter Stand

For Easter I wanted to make a decorative stand that would hold Easter eggs or Easter candy. I went off to the DI and grabbed a candle holder for 5o cents and a bowl for $1.00. I had left over spray paint from the burlap frames so I used that (plus its a great color for Easter).
I spraypainted everything and I was almost ready to glue them together, but I thought I would spray one last coat. Well apparently you can't spray paint glass in cold weather. Within seconds the paint started peeling off!
So I made yet another trip back to the DI for another bowl and candle stick. I ended up buying these beauties.
I spraypained the new ones and I made sure it was a warmer day this time! I glued them together with good old hot glue, did a little distressing and Waalaah I have my new Easter stand.
I can't wait to put my Easter eggs in here. I hope you like it! love- Christy
