How to Cut Burlap

Be sure to check out our new blog Adorn Event Styling for Party tips and tricks!

Until a couple of weeks ago I had no idea there was such an easy way to cut burlap.  Whenever I would cut burlap in the past, it would always end up so uneven like the picture below.  Thanks to the Clumsy Crafter I learned how to cut burlap in a straight line.

Decide where you want to cut your burlap and grab one string.  Gently pull the string all the way out.

After you pull the string all the way out there will be a space where you can cut a perfect straight line!

There you go! No more jagged edges.  How did I not know about this trick sooner?

i Phone Tricks

I was searching around on Pinterest and I saw a pin that I have to share.  Whenever I see i phone tricks I usually know all of them, but I never knew you could make your own custom vibration!
I found an awesome website with lots of tips I never knew click here to see them.

To make your own vibration go to Settings - General - Accessibility and turn on Custom Vibrations under hearing.  Go back to Settings - Sounds.  At the bottom of the screen click on Vibration Patterns. Now you can make your own vibration! You can assign them to certain people or for everyone.

I hope you guys like this new trick.

Anniversary Week

We had so much fun celebrating our anniversary
We went to dinner, surprised each other with presents, and took a trip to Wendover. I don't think I know of anyone else who is as corny as we are. But we really love each other! :)

Christy had way too much baggage in her trunk from a certain someone, so we decided to ditch it in the desert.

We may or may not have done a little celebration dance.

Once we got to Wendover we went to check in and realized we were the only people under 65. We spent the rest of the night gambling with the elderly.

I love you Christina

Happy Anni

This week Chelsie and I are celebrating two very special occasions.  It is the 6 month anniversary of our blog! We have had so much fun crafting, sharing stories and meeting other bloggers.

The other occasion is mine and Chelsie's Anniversary.  Yep. We have an anniversary. A couple of years ago we decided we needed a day to celebrate our friendship.  We celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day but what about our friends? So every year we go out and do something special. Yes our friends and family question if we're lesbians but we don't care. We always have so much fun, and it's a great way to give thanks to each other.

Pregnant.  Don't mind our swollen faces.

We want to give a big thanks to Tiffany from Mrs. This and That for creating our Happy Anni banner.  You can check out her blog and her new design blog!

DIY Blogger House

Don't forget that the Parade of Homes starts today.
This year my favorite bloggers designed the interior of one of the homes.
They had less than 90 days to work on this home.
I am sure these bloggers did an awesome job.  I can't wait to go and get inspiration for my home.

Striped Curtains

My new little obsession is wide striped curtains.  I want them every where in my house.  The only problem is they are so hard to find!  I have found a few on Pinterest that I love but they are handmade.  I usually love making cheap knockoffs but for some reason I just want to buy these curtains.  My sewing is not great, and the painted version looks like too much work for me.

If anybody else there is dying to make some let me know!

Getting Personal

Chelsie and I usually like to keep this blog light and fun.  But lately we haven't felt that way.  We've been throwing ourselves a little pity party.  This party has left no room for crafting or blogging.  Let's see I think Chelsie's car has been in the shop about 4 times in 2 months from different accidents.  She was in the grocery store the other day when her iPhone got stolen out of her shopping basket.  $400 later she finally has a new one. I went to an appointment with her for a lasik consult and she found out that she's not a candidate and won't be for at least 5 more years. 20/200 vision is just going to have to do! We were driving in the car talking and complaining, wondering when things were gonna turn around for us.  Right at that moment a rock flew into my windshield leaving a nice crack.  I have been going through a break up and my ex decided to call my mom and mention he is in love with someone else.  It hasn't been our favorite week.

Believe it or not this post is not intended to keep our pity party going.  After some time venting we acknowledged how great our lives really are.  We are both healthy, our families are healthy, we have so many people that love us, and we have exciting things going on in our lives, we are both fortunate enough to be building our own homes (more on that later).

I don't usually use this blog to talk about my personal life, but I am so glad that I have friends that talk about their challenges on their blog.  Breakups, divorces, infidelity, or a rough path can be really challenging.  Knowing that there are others going through the same thing can make life a little easier. So check out these amazing women.

Jacy

Jacy talks about how she got through a divorce filled with infidelity.  She doesn't have a sad blog, she has an empowering blog about regaining her self confidence and learning to love again.

Chantel

Chantel  was married for 6 weeks when her husband sent her a text saying he married her by accident.  She is a strong woman who recently graduated grad school and has her own business. You can also read her story on Jacy's blog here

Brooke

And then there is Brooke. She is a dear friend of ours. She has been through more than her fair share of heart ache.  But she is an amazing single mom of two who owns her own photography business (She did Chelsie's wedding and her family pics). You can see her photography here.

All of these women have had challenges in their lives and those challenges have made them strong independent women.  I highly suggest checking out all of their blogs!

For all of you who follow me on Pinterest you know I am on a kick of pinning quotes!  So here are few of my favorite at the moment.
